CounterPoint Version 7
The last version of the original CounterPoint program Version 7.5.20 and, while many businesses still use this software and we still support it, the software is no longer produced and there will be no further enhancements. Official support for CounterPoint V7 officially ceased at the end of 2015. This software is character-based, in other words it doesn't have a graphical screen. There is a touch-screen Point of Sale functionality available.
CounterPoint V7 is an industrial strength Point of Sale system which was made by Synchronics, Inc. It has been revised, enhanced and strengthened for nearly twenty years, CounterPoint is a full-featured system that will make your store run better.
Several years ago, Synchronics began developing a graphical version of CounterPoint, which is known as CPSQL. Synchronics was bought out by a company called Radiant, which was then bought out by NCR. The graphical CPSQL program is now known as NCR CounterPoint, and while there are some exceptional features in CPSQL and it's the way of the future, there are still some great features in Version 7 that never made it into CPSQL.
Designed to be a consolidated system of applications that synchronize with each other seamlessly, CounterPoint has a one-screen POS that makes quick transaction entry a priority, yet puts a wide range of options at the fingertips of the user.
The basic CounterPoint program includes inventory control, purchase orders, barcoding, scanning and sales history. It tracks apparel sizes and grids, supports credit card swiping, label printing, gift registries and frequent shopper rewards, as well as employee timecards, customers names and addresses and vendor information.
There is a full range of reports in the program, and customized programs are at your fingertips by adding modules so you can design your own reports with Crystal Report Writer, Microsoft Excel or Access.
CounterPoint supports the ability to consolidate inventory from multiple stores, and to support from one to five hundred users. However, if you have multiple stores you are strongly encouraged to upgrade to NCR CounterPoint which offers a much more resilient multi-store capability. Adding multiple stores to a CounterPoint 7 installation isn't recommended.
After October 1, 2015 CounterPoint Version 7 will no longer be able to securely accept, authorize or settle credit cards.
CounterPoint interfaces with several other accounting packages, such as Passport Software.
